Climate Action
Samsoor Watan is committed to addressing the urgent and long-term impacts of climate change on Afghanistan's communities, ecosystems, and economy. Our approach is grounded in raising awareness, building local resilience, and fostering sustainable solutions to mitigate climate impacts. We do this through:
1. Climate Education, Adaptation, and Mitigation
Community Awareness and Education Program
We develop and implement culturally relevant educational initiatives to enhance understanding of climate change at the grassroots level. By collaborating with schools, local leaders, and organizations, we aim to empower communities with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions.
Youth Climate Advocacy
Through workshops and capacity-building programs, we engage Afghan youth as climate advocates, and equip them to lead local adaptation and mitigation initiatives.
Climate Adaptation and Mitigation
Afghanistan’s environmental challenges demand a dual focus on mitigation and adaptation to combat climate change. Strengthening rural infrastructure and developing early warning systems equips communities to better prepare for and respond to climate-related disasters. These combined efforts enable Afghan communities to adapt to challenges and build a sustainable future.
2. Climate Disaster Preparedness, Resilience, and Response
Post-Disaster Recovery Programs
We assist affected communities in rebuilding sustainably after disasters, ensuring the integration of resilience measures in recovery efforts.
Building Local Capacity
We collaborate with local stakeholders to enhance preparedness for climate-induced disasters such as droughts, floods, and heatwaves. Training sessions, disaster simulations, and the provision of emergency response kits are central to our efforts.
3. Global Advocacy and Partnerships
Samsoor Watan's climate action initiatives are designed to not only address immediate climate risks but also contribute to long-term sustainability in order to ensure Afghan communities are equipped to thrive in an increasingly unpredictable environment.
